;;— ‘He could feel their looks of contempt, their disgust for him. And why? Because he dared contemplate a solution rather than instantly loose his blade from its sheath? Because he did not live up to their vision of what an Asgardian should be?’

lord of the rings gif meme: whatever tickles your fancy → the fell beasts

“It was a winged creature: if bird, then greater than all other birds, and it was naked, and neither quill nor feather did it bear, and its vast pinions were as webs of hide between horned fingers; and it stank. A creature of an older world maybe it was…”

The Nazgûl were they, the Ringwraiths, the Enemy’s most terrible servants; darkness went with them, and they cried with the voices of death.

“I think my hair is one of the few things in here not sentient. Is it so messy it looks like it’ll attack you? Really?” Tony smirks and draws one hand through his hair, essentially getting it even messier. “And I’d probably look good iced to the wall but that’s not the point, I don’t really want to make the icicle experience and then you’d probably get bored of me immobile and quiet really quickly.”

When the snowball disappears, Tony smiles— it’s unusual that those things ever work out in his favor. “I’m experimenting. And just having to lift your hand to smash a snowball to my face is not enough of a challenge, is it? Which I get, nothing better than a good challenge. But I admit it was a risky bet. Know why I’m good at poker? I always go for the risky bets, and just when some people feel they’ve seen through my bluffs I pull a royal flush. And then other nights I lose everything again. That’s just what playing’s all about, though, waving your money around. You ever been to Vegas? I’m sure you’d be good at it too.”

“In theory, I could attempt to make your hair sentient. Though, the idea of your hair waving around like some…hairy tentacles disturbs me.” Loki grinned, head tipping to the left as he dragged his eyes lazily up to his hair. “You’re catching on quickly, I really am going to have to start rewarding you. I do like a verbal, highly mobile target.” He states, half entertaining the thought of a mild hypotermic Tony stuck in some questionable angle on the adjacent wall.

Tony’s choice of words don’t exactly take the God by surprise, but it’s enough to quirk his eyebrow and lean just a fraction closer than he already was. “Experimenting? I can only imagine what next you’re going to try, and since you’re such a risky person…I’ll have to keep an eye open at all times. And you’re right, simply lifting a hand and flicking my wrist wouldn’t be a very entertaining challenge — Vegas?” Disarmed for a few moments after the running commentary on poker, there’s a slow blink, a quirk of his lips and a decisive sigh.. “I haven’t been, no. As for this poker, you’ll have to teach me — so I can beat you.”
